Newcastle City Council’s Apprenticeship Recruitment Event Returns for 2025

Newcastle City Council is once again opening its doors to aspiring apprentices as its popular Apprenticeship Recruitment Event returns next week. The event, designed to showcase a wide range of career opportunities, will take place on Tuesday 29th April 2025 at Newcastle Civic Centre.
Following the success of previous years, the event promises to highlight the diverse apprenticeships available at the council, giving attendees a valuable opportunity to earn while they learn.
Apprenticeship opportunities include roles such as Plasterer, Joiner, Gas Engineer, Mechanic, Civil Engineer, Highways Roadworker, Administrator, and many more.
Councillor Dan Greenhough, Cabinet Member for Economy, Jobs and Skills at Newcastle City Council, said:
“This event is an opportunity for us to showcase the importance of apprenticeships and the vital role they play, not only in the day-to-day running of the council, but also in helping people take their first steps into rewarding careers.
An apprenticeship provides a unique chance to gain new skills, work across different environments, and achieve recognised qualifications, all while earning a salary.
The council has made a significant investment in its Apprenticeship Programme, currently supporting 230 apprentices across various departments. We encourage anyone interested in starting a career with Newcastle City Council to come along and discover what opportunities are available.”
The Apprenticeship Recruitment Event will run from 3pm to 6.30pm at the Newcastle Civic Centre.
On the day, attendees will be able to:
- Apply directly for available apprenticeships
- Receive help and advice on completing applications
- Meet council staff and find out more about the training and career development opportunities on offer
- Ask any questions about the apprenticeship process
Apprenticeships with Newcastle City Council are open to anyone aged 16 and over, and applications are welcomed from individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
